Kenya’s New Article 6.4 Framework: What It Means for the Future of E-Mobility

Kenya has formally submitted its Host Party Participation Requirements (HPPR) under the Article 6.4 mechanism, becoming one of the few African countries with an operational framework to host internationally recognized carbon credit projects. The submission supports Kenya’s updated NDC target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 32% by 2030, ensuring Article 6.4 activities complement domestic mitigation. Electric mobility is identified as a priority sector, enabling EV fleets, charging infrastructure, and clean transport to access results-based finance through Article 6.4 Emission Reductions (A6.4ERs).
