Kenya is driving Africa’s green revolution, with its e-mobility sector experiencing a 600% surge in EV registrations from 2022 to 2023. Powered by over 85% renewable energy and supported by $100 million in investments, electric motorcycles, buses, and vehicles are transforming transport while cutting emissions and creating sustainable jobs.
However, proposed changes in the Finance Bill 2024 threaten to undo this progress, increasing costs and slowing EV adoption. The Africa E-Mobility Alliance (AfEMA) urges policymakers to protect Kenya’s leadership in sustainable transport and secure a cleaner, healthier future for all.
